According to a post By  Smith Akoko  on Facebook The Operatives of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba of the Lagos State command, Nigeria Police Force, have arrested one Mrs Nene Fortune Stephens for allegedly killing her house maid, Miss Joy Okom Adole. The maid was said to have been killed at number 18 Ogundola street, Bariga area of Lagos State, which is the home of the alleged, and the incident was reportedly in connection with disagreement over salary issues.  Narrating the ordeal, Philips Ejeh, an elder brother to the deceased, expressed shock upon the information reaching him that his sister was beaten to death. The Lagos state police command have arrested 22 year old Joseph Ogbu, for the murder of his employer, Oreoluewa John, 38, and her 89-year-old mother, Adejoke John, at their residence at Number 4 Ogunlana drive in Sururlere, Lagos state.   A statement from the command's Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, says at about 3am today, the Surulere Police Station received a distress call from No 4 Ogulana drive in Surulere that Joseph who is from Oju Local Government Area, Benue State and who was employed as a domestic staff on 18th June, 2019, murdered his employer Oreoluwa and her 89 years old Mother at their home.   The suspect confessed to the Crime.   In his statement, he averred that, his employer asked him to clean the house at about 9pm of 19th June, 2019 but an argument ensued between them, which prompted him to stab her with a knife. The houses, which are located at 15a, 15b and 17 MacDonald Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, are said to belong to Saraki. However, the EFCC was said to be unsure of which of the properties that actually belong to the Senate President and decided to place inscriptions and stickers on all of them. While 15a and 15b were declared by Saraki in his asset declaration form, it is believed that some other houses on the street were bought by the Senate President from the Presidential Implementation Committee for the Sales of Government Property through shell companies. The Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected an ex parte application for an order stopping President Muhammadu Buhari from swearing in Justice Tanko Muhammad as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria. Muhammad has been acting as the CJN since January when President Muhammadu Buhari suspended the former CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen. With Onnoghen’s resignation and subsequent conviction by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Muhammad is believed to be set to assume the office of the CJN in a substantive capacity. The main suit filed by Malcom Omirhobo Foundation, a group being promoted and represented in court by a lawyer, Mr. Malcom Omirhobo, is challenging Muhammad’s fitness to hold the office of the CJN. Some aggrieved Abuja residents blocked the convoy of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway in Abuja on Tuesday. According to Laolu Akande, Snr Special Assistant-Media & Publicity to the Vice President, the FCT residents protested alleged land takeover by the military. The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, at the weekend threatened that his administration can take herdsmen to court for crimes committed against farmers in the state. Umahi made this known while fielding questions from the members of course 12 of the Institute for Security Studies, ISS, which took place at Exco- chambers Government House, Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State. The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe, lamented that the activities of herdsmen were worrisome, noting that the state will not tolerate a situation where the herders will be allowing their cattle to destroy crops and farmlands in the state.
