Davido hails Osun election tribunal judgement, says ‘Mandate returned

David  Adeleke,  who is popularly called Davido, on Friday, hailed the judgement of the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal, which declared his uncle, Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the 2018 governorship election in the state. Adeleke was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election, in which the current governor, Gboyega Isiaka was returned the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission. On his verified Instagram page, Davido shared the news and wrote, “God no dey sleep!!! Mandate returned!!! Imole ti de!! Osun I’m on my way!!” And on his Twitter handle, he shared a photo from the 2018 campaign trail, and tweeted, “Imole ti de!!!!!! Congratulations to the great people of Osun State!”

JUST IN: thugs disrupt election in Benue, smash ballot box

Suspected political thugs have disrupted the rerun election at Jato-Aka ,Tse Akough PU 012, Yaav ward, Kwande Local Government of Benue State. A young man identified as Mr. Iorver Yough, believed to be working for the All Progressives Congress, APC, reportedly led APC thugs with Sekav Aule (Tor Geri Jato-aka) to destroy election materials. Yough allegedly slapped the PDP agent, Micheal Iornongo, used club and machetes on him while Aule and his boys broke the ballot box and snatched the register. Voters have fled the polling unit following the incident. DAILY POST gathered that, although some materials were recovered, the register is missing.

BREAKING NEWS: Osun Guber: Tribunal declares Adeleke of PDP winner of governorship election

The Osun State Governorship Election Tribunal has declared Ademola Adeleke of the PDP as the winner of the controversial state election. The tribunal also declared the September 27 rerun election in the state illegal. The three-man panel of the Tribunal gave the judgement on Friday following the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ademola Adeleka against the All Progressives Congress, APC and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola. The Tribunal also ruled that PDP and Adeleke proved that it was the state Returning Officer who cancelled the results in 7 Polling Units, adding that the petitioners also proved that the Returning Officer has no power to cancel election results of a polling unit. The Tribunal also deducted 2,029 votes from APC scores and 1,246 votes from PDP votes in 17 polling units where there was non compliance. Delivering the judgement, the panel had a split decision. Jimi Agbaje Jimi Agbaje, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos, has denied the raging rumour that he had abandoned the party in anger. “I remain in PDP,” Mr Agbaje told PREMIUM TIMES following an enquiry seeking to corroborate claims of his departure. “Disregard the fake news.” Mr Agbaje, a career pharmacist who had sought to govern Lagos three times in the last four general election cycles, was reported to have left the PDP following insufferable attacks directed at him because he lost the recent governorship election in the state. Mr Agbaje was roundly defeated by Jide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress at the March 9 governorship poll. He wasted no time in placing a call to congratulate Mr Sanwo-Olu and accept the outcome. B enue state Governor, Samuel Ortom has vowed to retain his seat for a second term against all odds. The Governor said this to newsmen yesterday following the anouncement of the defeat of former Governor, George Akume who lost his senatorial seat to House of representatives member, Emmanuel Yisa Orker Jev. The Governor said he had kept his promise of retiring the senator and said he will emerge victorious in the forthcoming governorship elections because the tenure of a governor is eight years. “Have I said anything and not done it? I work with God and He has always seen me through. This is how it would be during the Governorship election. The tenure of a Governor is eight years and I will have my eight years. Just watch and see,” Ortom said.
